How does Google Bard work?

Google Bard operates by using LaMDA, which is built on the Transformer neural network architecture. A lighter version of LaMDA, which consumes fewer computer resources, will be used in the initial iteration of Bard to enable it to accommodate a large number of people. To deliver its responses, Bard will draw upon all the information available on the internet in conjunction with LaMDA, resulting in fresh and high-quality answers, as per an official announcement by Google. On the other hand, Chat GPT based on GPT-3 is an autoregressive transformer model with 175 billion parameters.

As Bard gets integrated into Google search, there could be significant changes that may influence search results. Now, we have an entire concept of brand building and increasing customer touch points by bringing them to our website. Still, if the searcher is looking for direct answers to a query and has to scan your entire page to find a short answer, the entire process needs an update.

Many of you might think these are, after all, taking away some of our clicks. But, there would be more new opportunities that we could consider to improve the overall user experience. 

For example, let's talk about the fear factor that everyone had around voice searches and everybody sweating over that now no one will click on any links and find answers directly using voice searches.

It is also worth noting that 9.7% of desktop searches and 10.3% of mobile searches click through to other Google properties, such as shopping or images, while 17.9% of desktop and 29.3% of mobile searches refine their keyword search. While zero-click investigations have been present and will continue, it is essential to acknowledge that Google has been directing more traffic to external websites yearly.
