Welcome to issue #3 of Insights!, our bi-monthly blog series, which examines trends and insights related to digital marketing, advertising, and technology.

Reddit's lead-gen ads are finally here!

Reddit has launched a new type of ad, Lead Generation Ads, allowing advertisers to collect user information such as names and emails directly on the platform. The integration with Zapier automates the process by sending leads directly to your CRM, enhancing the efficiency of lead follow-up. Beta tests revealed that these ads deliver lower costs per lead and higher submission rates.

With the increasing use of Reddit among social network users, as reported by eMarketer (see below), this new advertising feature provides an even greater opportunity for us to tap into a growing audience and generate high-quality leads.

What are the benefits of using Reddit's new ads?

  • Direct Data Collection: Advertisers can gather user information (e.g., names, and emails) without users leaving Reddit.

  • Automated Lead Management: Integration with Zapier sends leads directly to CRMs, improving follow-up efficiency.

  • Cost Efficiency: Beta testing showed lower costs per lead and higher submission rates.

  • High-Quality Audience: Reddit’s engaged, information-seeking user base is ideal for generating quality leads.

Discovering the Unlikely Ways We Are Using Generative AI

In the last edition of Insights, we mentioned our discovery of the possibilities of generative AI and image editing. This time, we want to dive deeper into how people use AI and whether it has lived up to our expectations from 2022, when this Generative AI hype started.

When AI was first introduced as a topic, we were promised hyper-productivity and unlimited use cases. However, today, we are nowhere near this ‘hyper-productive world’. For the main part, AI adoption has been less successful in areas requiring high accuracy, such as code generation and online search, due to the problem of hallucinations.

So then, what ARE we using AI for?

Main use cases of generative AI

  • Creative composition is the most common application. One writer described using ChatGPT to help write a 140,000-word novel.

  • Surprisingly, forming deeper and more personal connections has been the second most popular use case. Users are treating AI as companions, mentors, and even therapists.

  • Brainstorming, planning, and seeking explanations are also frequent uses.

So what is it good for, if not complicated tasks?  AI chatbots are particularly useful for creative tasks where factual accuracy is less critical. Fun fact, Comedians have found AI helpful in generating initial drafts of material.

We asked someone from our podcast (which we will have news on very soon!) about a unique way they used AI recently. They mentioned how they were craving an Indian dinner but also wanted to include avocados since they still had them lying around, even though they are not traditionally used in Indian dishes. As a result, ChatGPT gave them the recipe for ‘Avocado Paneer Tikka’. The person we interviewed then actually tried the recipe and was quite surprised at the result.

It was yummy! 😋😋
