A critical issue in any search engine optimization project is expectation management. The above chart illustrates this frequently occurring problem in our industry.
Optimization is an iterative process, and most times, a relatively slow one. This makes sense when we take into account the complex and extensive number of variables at work in SEO, and also the fact that all others who have addressed the same topics are growing by the day.
Each day, several millions of new articles are placed online, and probably a few targeting the same keywords as we are. In discussing this issue with a client, I was challenged to identify 10 sure-fire points for quick wins.

Considering that content strategy would have to be seen in the long run, what can we do in the meantime to bridge the gap between SEO expectations and reality? How can we achieve fast, tangible results? So, back to basics:
1. Check for 404
One of the issues that we tend to overlook are the 404 Not Found pages with inbound links. It's like following an internet rainbow to find no pot of gold at the end. If you want traffic down your rainbow, check on all your backlinks. You may find that some are going to non-existing pages.
2. Guest blogging with priorities
Guest blogging on Do Follow websites is great for traffic, but it’s important in the criteria of choice. Go for sites with a high potential of syndication. That way, the content can be redistributed without much effort.
3. Enable a social component: ask for recommendations
Don't be afraid to ask for feedback from your audience. Adding a comment area or section is valuable to both you and your audience. It demonstrates your willingness interact with your users and adapt to create the experience they truly want.
4. Always go for keywords that are about to go up in the rankings
Think ahead. Compile a list of related keywords and order them by relevance. Create a strategy that puts insights ahead of already crowded spaces.
5. Closely monitor duplicates
In terms of SEO, duplicates are very harmful to a website. The implications are huge, and although the SERP is now looking for page by page indexation, the overall impact is obvious. Don’t become lazy on and settle for duplication. Be original.
6. See if your site is being penalized
If your site has problems that reflect on Webmastertools solve them ASAP. Also, pay close attention to all Google's tool releases; they are not unintentional and will have deep impact in your website performance.
It’s typical to see Google release tools that will reflect in a new algortithm update.
For instance, cross your website in Google Page Speed Insights – this tool analyzes the content of a web page, then generates suggestions to make that page faster; also, the Mobile Friendly Test Tool - This test will analyze a URL and report if the page has a mobile-friendly design.

7. Prioritize the keywords depending on opportunity.
In addition to traffic and competition, take SEO options based on opportunity! If the site already indexing, start optimizing the results for the keywords which already appears, and attack the secondary positions.
8. Validate your code carefully and simplify every time (minimize)
Look at your website code, see if it is compliant with W3C, see if the navigation has no errors, and improve the mobile version and Load speed. These tasks will boost it in performance!
9. Be careful with shots in the foot
Start by looking at these three points: - Robots.txt - Meta robots commands - Open Site Explorer Top Pages report (https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/)
10. Become the more Local as possible and ensure impact with Local Directories
Build your Page on Google Places listing and arrange a set of recommendations. For local business, this is critical.
